Memphis assistant Andy Borman will not be retained

According to a report by the Commercial Appeal, the Memphis Tigers Men’s Basketball program will not retain assistant Andy Borman. Borman is the nephew of college basketball legend Mike Krzyzewski at Duke. Borman spent two seasons as a Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway’s staff member.  Before taking the assistant job with Memphis, Borman was the executive director of the New York Renaissance, an organization that is a member of the Nike EYBL circuit.

The transactions occur at a time when the looming deadline is nearing for forward David Jones to make his decision on returning to the program or pursuing a professional basketball career with the National Basketball Association. May 29 is when college basketball prospects can withdraw their names from the 2024 NBA Draft.

The program has replenished its roster with a plethora of new players, such as Colby Rogers, PJ Haggerty, Tyreese Hunter, Tyreek Smith, Baraka Okojie, Dain Dainja, Big man Moussa Cisse, who returns to the program after spending the past two season with Ole Miss and Oklahoma State. The Tiger’s only incoming freshman, Jared Harris, will also be a part of the current landscape. Nicholas Jordain and Joe Cooper are the only two members that will be returning from last year’s team.
