Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will play on Monday Night Football for the second straight year. However, this time, the Jets will be on the road when they take on the San Francisco 49ers, a team that Rodgers is very familiar with during his time with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers is not the only individual familiar with the current era of 49ers football. Before he joined the New York Jets to become their head coach, Robert Saleh was the 49ers defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2020.

Both teams enter the 2024 season with increased pressure to produce based on different scenarios. The current Jets regime could be cleared out if the upcoming season does not yield postseason results. As for the 49ers, the goal has never been more apparent: it’s a Super Bowl championship or bust. The team has been at the forefront of the NFC for the past three seasons but has failed to add a championship title to their resume.

Last year’s Monday Night Football opener was filled with drama when Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon after a few plays during the opening drive. However, the Jets would rally to defeat the Buffalo Bills 22-16. The Jets versus 49ers matchup is the second major leak of the National Football League’s 2024 schedule release. The first game leaked was the Baltimore Ravens versus the Kansas City Chiefs. The full release of the 2024 campaign is expected to be published on Thursday, May 15. However, I expect more games to be leaked before Wednesday evening.
