On Tuesday, the NBA released its entire NBA Cup schedule for the 2024 season. Regarding the New Orleans Pelicans, they were placed in Group C. The group also features teams such as the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, and last season’s Western Conference champion, the Dallas Mavericks. Out of all the groups listed for the NBA Cup, Group C seems to be the most daunting. The bracket is littered with some of the league’s best playmakers, such as Nikola Jokic, Ja Morant, Luka Dončić, Kyrie Irving, and Stephen Curry.
New Orleans will open up against the Nuggets on November 15, followed by the Mavericks four days later on November 19. Two out of four NBA Cup games will be played in the Smoothie King Center (Nuggets, Warriors). Once Group Play is over, eight teams will advance to the Knockout Rounds. The team with the best standing in Group Play games in the six groups and two “wild cards” (the team from each conference with the best record in Group Play games that finished second in its group).
The Knockout Rounds will consist of single-elimination games in the Quarterfinals (played in NBA team markets on Tuesday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 11) and Semifinals and Championship (played in Las Vegas on December 14 and December 17, respectively). The Knockout teams will compete for a prize pool and the NBA Cup championship trophy. During the Knockout Rounds on days when Emirates NBA Cup games are not scheduled (Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 15-16), the 22 teams that do not qualify for the Knockout Rounds will each play two regular-season games.
