In a surprising yet strategic move, the Tennessee Titans add a proven veteran presence to their wide receiver room. Free-agent wideout Tyler Lockett is signing a one-year deal worth $4 million, with the potential to earn up to $6 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lockett, who spent the entirety of his nine-year career with the Seattle Seahawks, made the announcement himself on X (formerly Twitter):

“I’m excited to be a Tennessee Titan!! I’m super thankful and grateful. Let’s get it!! God, you get all the glory!!”

The 32-year-old wide receiver brings leadership, big-play ability, and veteran savvy to a Titans offense expected to transform in 2025. Lockett recorded 49 catches for 600 yards and 2 touchdowns last season in Seattle while operating in a complementary role behind DK Metcalf and rookie standout Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Now joining a Tennessee team freshly aligned around rookie quarterback Cam Ward, Lockett could serve as a safety valve and a mentor for a young Titans receiver corps that includes Treylon Burks and any other wideouts they may add through the draft.

The move signals Tennessee’s commitment to surrounding Ward with dependable weapons as he transitions into the starting role. Lockett’s experience in high-tempo, downfield-passing offenses could be particularly valuable in Brian Callahan’s new-look offensive scheme.

This signing also adds another layer of intrigue to a Titans team coming off a 3-14 season, but appears determined to retool quickly around its new quarterback and core.

As the NFL Draft approaches, Lockett’s presence gives Tennessee flexibility in approaching the wide receiver position and gives Cam Ward a reliable target to lean on from Day 1.
